BWI magazine: Women can do the job!
As part of BWI’s 16 Days of Trade Union Activism on Violence against Women this year, it released a magazine showcasing the major policy deliberations and decisions of the global union’s women trade unionists in the lead up to and during its 5th World Congress last October 2022 in Madrid, Spain.
It revisits the well-attended Women in Trades Conference, which was held a day before BWI’s Congress, and which created the necessary momentum for women trade unionists to push for more gender equality policies inside and outside the global union.
The magazine also highlights the resolutions and statute amendments adopted by BWI’s Congress to further promote women empowerment, safer workplaces and homes, and a gender-equal future for all. Some of these are BWI’s policy providing mandatory 1/3 women representation in all of its governance structures, as well as gender equality resolutions, including an emergency resolution expressing support for the women’s struggle in Iran.
