Republika Srpska: Union holds congress, prepares for protest actions
The Forest, Wood Processing and Paper Trade Union of Republika Srpska (Bosnia and Herzegovina) held recently a national assembly and unanimously re-elected Vlado Pavlovic as president.
The assembly also adopted the union’s 2021-2025 programme. The union is said to be preparing to mobilise and organise protest actions in case Sokolac’s demand to start negotiations is not met.
Sokolac is the united trade union organisation of forest workers in the public enterprise. It is calling for wage increases, additional allowances for hot meals, quality PPE equipment and extra funds for organising workers' sports games, among others.
“I would like to congratulate brother Vlado for being re-elected as union president. We are proud that the Forest, Wood Processing and Paper Trade Union of the Republika Srpska is a member of the BWI family. We recognise our numerous joint struggles for workers’ rights. We will continue our collective fight to secure a better future for the workers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the world,” BWI Pan Europe Regional Representative Coen van der Veer said.
