Ukraine: Support workers' struggle for labour and union rights

On 19 July, the Ukrainian parliament has adopted Draft Law No. 5371, which abolished the labour rights of 94 percent of Ukrainian workers. The law introduces the extreme liberalisation of labour relations, discriminates against workers in all micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, and deprives working people of labour and union protection. 

For two years, the trade unions of Ukraine have actively opposed the passage of this anti-labour draft law. Despite numerous warnings from the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) on the inconsistency of this draft law with the principles and norms of European legislation and ILO Conventions, as well as the conclusions of scientists and experts, the Ukrainian Parliament has adopted it. Among the consequences of the law’s adoption is the massive violation of workers' rights and further exodus of the most qualified and economically-active segment of the Ukrainian population.

To make matters worse, the situation is complicated by the bloody war started by the Russian aggressor against the Ukrainian people.
