Mozambique : SINTICIM holds 6th Congress, vows to defend labour rights
The National Union of Construction Industry, Timber and Mines Workers of Mozambique (SINTICIM) held its 6th National Congress on 27 October, 2022, in Maputo, Mozambique. Carrying the theme “SINTICIM fight for the defense of rights and the improvement of the living and working conditions of workers,” the Congress was attended by 54 delegates from 9 out of the 10 national provinces of the country, 16 national guests and a represenative from BWI.
In a prepared statement read by BWI Regional Executive Officer Dosso Ndessomin, BWI Regional Representative Crecentia Mofokeng congratulated SINTICIM for holding a successful national congress. She also extended the solidarity messages of BWI General Secretary Ambet Yuson and BWI Regional Executive Committee President Abdelmonem Ibrahim Mohamed Elgamal.
SINTICIM’s congress delegates adopted the General Secretary’s report and their new strategic plan covering the period from 2022 to 2027. They also elected a new leadership, with Jeremias Duzenta Timana re-elected as General Secretary, as well as the 37 members of the National Secretariat and the 3 members of the National Auditor’s Committee.
