1 May: In celebration of May Day, the BWI along with its affiliates in Europe is launching “Vote for Social Europe” and “No to Right-Wing Parties” campaign.
The next elections to the European Parliament will take place between 23 to 26 May 2019. These elections are critical in defining the future of Europe. With this in mind, the BWI along with IG BAU-Germany, GBH-Austria, and EFBWW has produced a video to educate trade union members and all voters of the importance of voting for a more equitable, sustainable, and social Europe and vote against Right-wing parties.
The videos which are available in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, and Croatian calls for a European Union that is for the people and not for profit-driven multinational companies and neo-liberal policies. It also call for voters to not be swayed by the rhetoric of xenophobic, racist right-wing parties and “Say No” on election day.
As BWI affiliates throughout Europe participate in May Day rallies they will call for a Social Europe. In Amsterdam the BWI youth who are participating in the first BWI Global Activists Network Academy will join FNV in its annual May Day Rally. Their voice will join thousands of others calling for a “Vote to Social Europe” and “No to Right-Wing Parties.”
