Ukrainian unionists receive Asbestos training

Following BWI’s two-day conference on Ukraine’s reconstruction, a one-day training session was held for the 15 PROFBUD trade union representatives who attended the conference in Warsaw. The session was organised by BWI in collaboration with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Asbestos Awareness expert Dan Tooley from Clifford Devlin Ltd.

The training covered asbestos identification, the health impacts of asbestos exposure, and exposure risk management. The training was well received, sparking active discussions on topics ranging from how to handle debris after shelling to managing exposure to hazardous dust in bomb shelters.

BWI stated that this training session marks just the beginning of a comprehensive series of activities aimed at supporting PROFBUD on the critical issue of asbestos exposure in Ukraine. Future initiatives include providing personal protective equipment (PPE), training materials, and conducting a follow-up train-the-trainers course in Ukraine.
