Global unions launch toolkit as ILO Convention 190 enters into force

As part of the global celebration regarding the entry into force of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Convention No. 190 on the violence and harassment in the world of work, BWI and its fellow global unions and federations launched a “Training of  Trainers” toolkit to fully integrate the instrument, as well as ILO Recommendation 206 to the trade unions’ various work.

The global unions said that ILO Convention NO. 190 and Recommendation 206 are key tools, especially on collective bargaining, for workers to eliminate violence and harassment in the world of work, and to push forward trade union reforms with an inclusive and gender-responsive perspective.

The toolkit is the product of the collective effort of different trade unionists, especially women. It seeks to aid trade unions and workers’ representative organisations in ensuring that the Convention and the Recommendation are fully implemented in the different countries’ national laws.
