Serbia: SRGIGMS steps up CBA signing at company level
Last 17 October, an important event took place as the Trade Union of Construction and Building Materials Industry Workers of Serbia (SRGIGMS) signed a new collective bargaining agreement with "Megalit-Šumnik" Raška. Present at the signing ceremony were SRGIGMS President Milan Mitrović, Director Miloš Minic, Branislav Banović (head of the General Sector), Marija Jemuović (lawyer), and Saša Torlaković (president of the Construction Workers' Union and IGM of Serbia).
The agreement is set to remain in effect for a period of three years and represents the first collective bargaining agreement signed with an employer following the nationwide special (branch) collective agreement earlier this year, which encompassed workers in Serbia's construction and building materials industry. The agreement encompasses provisions for wage increases and aligns safety and health measures with the new Law on Occupational Safety and Health.
According to the union, this agreement is a significant milestone within the framework of their campaign to "organise and strengthen trade unions and enhance social dialogue.”
"Megalit-Šumnik" Raška currently employs a workforce of 300 workers and is engaged in the production of aggregates used in road construction for asphalt and concrete, as well as crushers for rail track ballast production. It is also involved in the production of concrete and concrete elements, and undertake various civil engineering projects, including residential and commercial building construction.
