The BWI-affiliated Federation of Indonesia Workers’ Awakening (FKUI) held its 7th Congress from 23 to 26 of November. Previously known as the Federation of Construction, Informal and General Workers (FKUI-SBSI), the federation’s Congress changed its name to reflect its new mandate to organise workers of all types from different sectors and new membership from individual workers to trade unions. India’s Constitution Day on 26 November was met by a nationwide strike participated by millions of workers from different states to protest the government’s anti-labour reforms. The protest, led by the Joint Forum of Ten Central Trade Unions, was the fourth nationwide strike launched by workers this year to oppose the government’s decision to amend the country’s four (4) labour codes.
