Global solidarity against the COVID-19 pandemic

Countries from all continents are gravely affected by the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The pandemic threatens and distorts the different aspects of human life, including the world of work.

Currently, the outbreak has affected the health and safety, as well as the economic and social welfare of countless workers across the globe. Factories are shutting down. Construction work has ground to a halt in many locations. Some workers are getting sick, losing their incomes and even their jobs.

The pandemic requires an unprecedented show of solidarity. Governments, trade unions and employers must close ranks more than ever in turning the tide against this international health crisis.

We echo the International Labour Organization's (ILO) call for a strong social safety net to protect individual and workers' rights and help companies stay in business.

Together, we will get through this global challenge.
