For the International Workers Memorial Day on 28 April, BWI joins other global unions in the call for COVID-19 to be recognised as an occupational disease. This will mean access to rights for workers and responsibilities for governments and employers, and improvement on the protection of workers’ health and safety, which will impact positively on the overall public health in our new reality.
BWI believes that at this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, more than ever, workplace health and safety must be secured. All workers have the right to safe working environments. Workers must be able to return from work to their homes healthy and keep their loved ones.
