South Africa: Denmark’s biggest union federation visits BWI’s Regional Office

The United Federation of Workers in Denmark (3F), Denmark’s largest and strongest trade union federation with approximately 280,000 members, on 9 February visited BWI’s Regional Office for Africa Middle East in Johannesburg to help strengthen the trade union movement and defend the rights of construction workers in the region.

3F New Regional Coordinator and Representative Bjørn Haar and Regional Programme Officer Luis de Abreu met with BWI leaders and discussed the various cooperation efforts to assist trade unions from legal advice, setting up of emergency funds, awareness-raising campaigns, to engaging social partners and ensuring measures to protect workers.

BWI Africa and Middle East Regional Representative Crecentia Mofokeng welcomed Bjørn Haar and took the opportunity to thank 3F’s previous Regional Coordinator and Regional Representative Carsten Hunnech for the time he spent in the region. She also expressed her gratitude to 3F for its continued support.

“Through innovative ideas, we are looking forward to build a strong and vibrant region through the support of our partners, such as 3F,”Mofokeng said.
